Event Details: The college essay is an important part of the evaluation process. Join a former college admission officer to discuss college essays and learn some tips and tricks for taking on your own essays! We will offer suggestions for finding and sharing your best stories to make your college applications the best they can be.Teens and parents are welcome. You may attend these sessions in-person or on Zoom. Registration required.Your Speaker:Sam Joustra came to Collegewise after working in college admissions for ten years at three different institutions. She attended Goucher College as an undergraduate, and worked in admissions at Hampshire College, Vanderbilt University, and the University of Michigan. She loves applying her experience on the other side of the desk to her work with students, helping them choose the schools that are the best fit and helping them navigate the admissions process.

MichBusiness annually honors Women Workplace Leaders who make significant contributions to their fields and the community. Established in 1996, the awards are bestowed in three categories: Shooting Stars – Honoring young women on the move. Leadership In The Workplace – Honoring women who are change-makers and thought leaders in the workplace today. The Michigan Business Women Hall of Fame – Honoring women whose careers have reached exceptional levels of success and who have elevated and encouraged women in the workplace.

Event Details: Get involved with the Library by joining our Teen Advisory Board (TAB). Anyone in grades 7-12 is welcome. Share your opinions on teen programs, prizes, social media posts, and more while eating pizza and making friends. Meeting attendance will count as a volunteer hour, and members of TAB will be considered first for other volunteer opportunities. If you are passionate about teen library services, the Library would love to have you join TAB! Registration required.TAB Participants have the ongoing opportunity to take part in developing library social media posts, promoting programs and materials. Library posts are shared on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. Parents of registrants under 18 must consent for your child's facial image to appear in posts. Posts which do not include faces, but which may include first names, will not require parental permission.
